RICHEST DEAD PEOPLE

It is always said that you cannot take the mortal remains with you after you die. All your material possessions, and wealth are of no use once you expire. "A miser is a fool who saves up all his life to die a rich man", people say. You earn during your life time, spend that money and die leaving everything behind. Or is it?

People in certain parts of the world would love to be remembered after they are dead- the size of the tomb signifies their greatness. People do realize that "legacy" stays behind after a person dies- and it inspires a lot others. However, it has been proved that legacy goes beyond just name and fame- A dead man also earns. Would you believe if I told you that Albert Einstein earned $18 million last year? Or that Marilyn Munroe earned $7 million?

Elvis Presley was the king in his times. He still is. Even among the dead people. Elvin Presley "earned" $49 million last year. He is the topper in this year's Forbes.com's list of top-earning dead celebrities. Presley died in 1977. His estate continues to generate millions from music royalties, DVDs, licensing deals and tourism at Graceland, the rocker's mansion in Memphis, USA.

The other rich deceased celebrities are: John Lennon ($44 million), cartoonist Charles M. Schulz ($35 million), Beatle George Harrison ($22 million), scientist Albert Einstein ($18 million), artist Andy Warhol ($15 million), writer Theodore Geisel ($13 million), rapper Tupac Shakur ($9 million), actress Marilyn Munroe ($8 million), actor Steve McQueen ($6 million), musician James Brown ($5 million), musician Bob Marley ($4 million), and actor James Dean ($3.5 million).

Apparently, dead men tell no tales- but they still bring home the bacon... and how! The world is not only more queerer than we think, it is more queerer than we think!

Interesting to note the profession associated with the enlisted deceased - entertainment, with Albert Einstein being the notable exception in this list. It would be exciting to see how much deceased political leaders, businessmen or sportspersons would earn in the present day.
